About The Event

REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE AND SERVICE

Annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service, in Birchington, organised by the Royal British Legion Birchington Branch helped and assisted by Birchington Parish Council, Birchington Silver Band, Volunteers, Organisations, and Members of the Public.

Members of the Public are encouraged to line the route along Station Road, and assemble in Birchington Square for the main Service from 10:30 until around 11:15, the Parade will meet, assemble, and form up, in Alpha Road Car Park from 10:30, with the Parade will march off at 10:45 to arrive at the Square around 10:55, for the commencement of the service at 10:59 the last post will be played, with the exhortation, followed by two minutes silence, Kohima epitaph reveille.

The Chaplain will give a short reading followed by a prayer, and then organisations and members of the public will be able to lay wreaths at the memorial, before the parade moves off and returns for the final salute, before finishing in Albion Road Car park.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."

This is an annual event/occasion, whereby the Village Residents and Community come together in Remembrance.

Huge THANK YOU to everyone who took part in 2023 - Respect from our Village, well done, to everyone who attended the Remembrance Sunday Parade (Today), huge turnout, thanks to everyone involved, from Parish Council, Royal British Legion, Parade Marshall, Stewards, Volunteers, everyone who took part, and community, paying our respects to both veterans, and former and currently serving members of the Armed Forces, but also, remembering people not here anymore.
